The tour bus pick-up point is over at Dublin’s Paddy Palace at 8:00 AM. First stop is the port town of Drogheda in County Louth, the largest town in all of Ireland. There you will see the shrunken head of Saint Oliver Plunkett, who was executed in 1681 in London. The head was only put on display in the St. Peters Cathedral in 1921. Next stop is the historic ruins Monasterboice found just above the town. There you will see the 5½-meter Muiredach’s High Cross, among many other inspiring Celtic high crosses. You head up towards the north coast and stop at the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. This 20-meter suspension bridge hangs 30 meters above the rocky sea and connects the tiny island Carrick to the mainland. Occasionally, tourists are allowed to cross the rope bridge for a small donation to the National Trust which maintains the bridge. Your next stop is in nearby Giants Causeway – the most amazing cliffs in the world. This volcanic formation of thousands of basalt columns was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. Further down the coast is beautiful Dunluce Castle, also located on the edge of basalt cliffs. Day 3: Donegal
You start your 3rd day with an informative and immersing tour of Derry’s city walls and the infamous Bogside district. After having lunch you head down towards Donegal. The half day tour takes you to the famous surf spots and adventure trails in and about Donegal – and ends in the Glenveagh National Park, the largest kind in Ireland. You will spend the night back at Derry.

From Derry, you head down south to Sligo. There you will visit the grave site of the national poet of Ireland, William Butler Yeats. A seaweed bath is optional when you reach Strandhill, which is also a famous Irish surf site. You will spend the night in beautiful Cong.

Day 5: Cong – Westport – Galway
From Cong you head on to Westport, a town built in beautiful Georgian architectural style. There you will get to climb Ireland’s only holy pilgrimage mountain, Croagh Patrick or locally known as The Reek. This 764 meter high mountain’s name translated is St. Patrick’s mountain – St. Paddy was said to have fasted on the summit of the mountain for 40 days way back in the fifth century. It has been said that at the end of the fasting, St. Partick threw a silver bell down the mountain which knocked a she-demon named Corra from the sky; and the act banished all the snakes from the island of Ireland. After you have taken lunch, you make you way to nearby Doolough, known in Irish history for the Doolough Tragedy of the Great Irish Famine. Then you head further down to the bogs of Connemara. You will spend the night in Ireland’s party capital, Galway.

In the morning you will be given the opportunity to visit the different sites of Galway; most recommended is the Spanish Arch – is a set of arches that were built as an extension of the Galway city walls in 1584. Day 7: Ring of Kerry
