Map of Fingal, North county Dublin bellow.
I love getting out in my car on the weekends, I am from the north side of the city, the area is termed the Fingal region, not many people that visit Dublin explore this area. Dublin airport is located just at the start of the Fingal region, so its very handy starting point when arriving in Dublin.
There are a number of towns that I recommend to visit, all the following areas are great for people who enjoy walking and also are all on the coast, they all have great beaches!
- Malahide
- Skerries
- Portmarnock
- Donnabate
- Howth
Car rental advice
Car rental can be booked at Dublin airport, you can check rates on our site, It is possible to book a car from 12 euro a day in the off peak season but during the summer time, prices can be up to 30 or 40 euro a day, its especially expensive during the St Patricks holiday and the major summer bank holiday weekends.
Public transport
All towns are connected by Dublin bus and train services, the trains are not so frequent to Donnabate and Skerries but are the fastest way to get there from Dublin city. Bus rides can take an hour to Donnabate and up to 90 minutes to Skerries. Malahide and Howth are served by a much more frequent Bus and rail service, you can view www.dart.ie and www.dublinbus.ie for timetables.
