Ireland is a fantastic country to visit, a lot of people come from outside of Ireland and want to find the essential phone numbers and information to make them feel at home, I have written this small article to assist you travelers in knowing the basic information.

Police/ Garda and Emergency number : 999  or 112

112 is the European Emergency number and can be used in Ireland and all over Europe.

  Phone 112 or 999 and ask the operator to put you through to the Gardai (Republic of Ireland) or the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
• EMS and Ambulance
  Phone112 or 999 .
• Mountain Rescue
  Phone 112 or 999
• Fire and Rescue
  Phone 112 or 999 and ask the operator to put you through to the fire service.
• Marine and Coastal Emergencies
  Phone 112 or 999 and ask the operator to put you through to the Coast Guard. The Garda Costa (RoI) or Her Majesty’s Coast Guard (NI) will coordinate the response by cliff rescue teams, inshore rescue units, lifeboats and SAR helicopters if necessary.

Replace the 028 NDC Northern Irish NDC with 048.
I would also recommened to use+44 28 (particularly when storing a number on mobile phone)

Dial 00 353 + area code and number. Omit 0 of the Republic of Ireland area code. Call 100 for operator assistance if required.

• IDD access is 00 following area code of country, for example United Kingdom is  +00 44 calling usa is + 00 1
• Can call international without operator assistance.
• Payphones work with unit system, 1 unit is worth around 20 cents.
• Time varies from a few seconds to a few minutes, International calls are more expensive than local calls, certain countries are less expensive than others.
• It is recommended to get calling cards to save money.
